The “Buddy” System
One important aspect of the The Miracle League of the Triangle is the buddy system. “Buddies” are mainstream youth or adults who volunteer to assist the ballplayers with challenges associated with special needs children playing baseball. As a result, children, their parents, and volunteers come together as part of a program that serves children with special needs.
Training provided!
The Goals for The Miracle League of the Triangle “Buddies” are:
• Assist the player according to their needs.
• To protect the Miracle League player at all times
• Allow the player as much freedom as possible to play his/her own game.
• Be of good spirit with enthusiasm, good attitude and concern in motivating the players and their families.
• Become their friend; get to know the players and their families
• Arrive at field 30 minutes prior to game time dressed in buddy shirt
All buddies must attend our buddy training held weekly during the season, before assisting our players.
